Pin Oak, Quercus palustris



Habitat: Typically found in bottomlands; prefers moist (hydric) soils. A popular ornamental tree with its leaves turning scarlet in the autumn.

Characteristics: Reaches a height of 70-80 feet, and the trunk having a diameter of 2-3 feet. The leaves are 3-7 inches long and remain attached in the winter (like most oaks).
