European White Birch, Betula pendula



Habitat: Mixed woods; commonly used as an ornamental tree. The trunk is characterized by its many dark chevrons.

Characteristics: In the urban environment it may attain a height of 20-40 feet; the diameter of the trunk may reach 10-18 inches. The leaves are 1-4 inches long and drooping catkins are present. It flowers in April or May.
