We've Released the New STS Pages! |
|
We have installed the updated version of the STS Web Server for 1997.
You'll find it at http://www.gypsymoth.ento.vt.edu/sts97/. We have tried to
make the new Web pages cleaner, faster, and more straightforward.
Please phone (540-231-9979) or email us with any
problems, questions, or comments.
One big change is in how reports and maps are accessed. We've put these in a table which we believe streamlines the process. Also, we have greatly improved the interface between 1:24,000 quad maps and the database. You can now navigate among the quads (we redesigned these, too) using a county map or quad list and query the STS database for any site on the quad. This means you have 3 windows open at once on your monitor (county map or list, quad map, and query window) so it takes a bit of adjusting, but the result is much better. We also have upgraded the database server so query response time is improved. Give it a try and let us know how it works for you. The site and trapper queries also are available from the survey data page. Other changes are mostly organizational, although we have increased the information content overall. We have included a variety of project support files such as county and 7.5 minute quad info as well as field materials such as Satloc & Agnav reference guides. We will be working with MSU to incorporate the Northern STS data as seamlessly as possible. These changes will be more evident as the season progresses. |
